Agricultural Transportation Working Group urges Congress to pass the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act

NGFA and members of the Agricultural Transportation Work Group urged lawmakers to support the bipartisan infrastructure bill, which would increase infrastructure spending by $550 billion over five years.

"A comprehensive transportation infrastructure bill, while popular, has long been elusive," stated the groups in an Aug. 6 letter to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. "We urge enactment of this compromise between President Biden and a group of Senate Democrats and Republicans."

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act "will enhance the efficient and cost-effective transport of agricultural and food products resulting in substantial contributions and opportunities for U.S. economic growth and trade," the letter noted, adding that the legislation provides Congress and the Biden administration with the opportunity "to boost the competitiveness of American agriculture."
